Leap Year Day

This is February 29 and mom says this day only happens once every four years so we'd better not sleep through this special extra day.

Hey Tommy, I think we are supposed to leap around today and play a lot cuz it's leap year day.

Hey Shilgiah, Do you realize that on the next leap year day you will be ten years old!

Yeah, and you'll be eight! I hope we're not too old to leap around then.

Goodbye Weekend

It has been a nice weekend. Saturday, our mom went skiing up at little Sandia Peak. She was all excited because there was a foot and a half of new powder snow there! WooHoo? I don't really get it, but whatever makes her happy... This morning she was so sore from all the hard work of skiing in deep powder she stayed in bed extra long. WooHoo! Now, that makes me happy cuz it means more snuggle time with the mom.

Goodbye sweet weekend...wish you could last all week.

Manx Monday

Enough of Mancat Monday! While I love my brother and will let him post once in awhile whenever I feel like letting him, it is my blog after all. You know, he could get his own blog.

Anyway, from now on Mondays will be called "Manx Monday" because that's what I am. I am a Manx. O.K. officially I am a "Stumpy Manx". Nevertheless, I am a proud Manx kitty.

My mom keeps a really cool book about cats on the little round table between the two couches. You've probably seen the book cuz my brother, Tommy, likes to lie on it and I think there is a picture of him laying on it somewhere on my blog.

The book is called The Legacy of the Cat and it was written by Gloria Stevens who has degrees in biology and psychology and she loves cats (which is probably worth more than 10 degrees). So, in the book she has a section about Manx kitties and she talks about the Manx Temperament which I'll share in a minute. But first my favorite picture of me.

I am Shilgiah the Huntress!

O.K. so Gloria Stevens said in The Legacy of the Cat ..."Once the kittens are past the endangered stage of development, they grow to be strong, healthy adults. The Manx make excellent pets. They do tend to be loyal to only one person and aloof but not unkind to others. They are excellent hunters and enjoy tree climbing. They are quiet, rather reserved cats and are excellent, faithful companions..."

Wow! That's a perfect description on me!

Dancing With The Mountain

I know it's ManCat Monday but it has occurred to me that Tommy has been getting his furry face on my blog too much lately and it's time that my beautiful self gets seen again. This is me walking past mom's ski boots. On Saturday she took the fake sunflowers out of her ski boots and went to dance with the mountain again.

How big are your feet mom?!

Happy Birthday Mom

Yesterday was Mom's birthday and over the weekend her niece and nephew flew out to ski with her. They had a great time skiing and came back in the evening to make sure they had play time with us. Then we had a little party with Mom.

We used leftover birthday hats from Tommy's birthday and in spite of the fact that I am really not fond of birthday hats I wore one.

Tommy ate his hat in honor of mom's getting old. We are so glad mom got born because otherwise how would we have found such a wonderful forever home. Thanks for being born mom! And thanks for the tuna juice for your birthday.
